Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It’s the city that I have called home for the past three years, and is the same city that has seen both at my best and at my worst. Philadelphia has a very special place in my heart, and I can’t imagine the person I would have become without it. From the rough streets and bordered up houses of North Philly, to the incredibly posh row homes in Rittenhouse, this city has truly become my city,

I first decided to make Philadelphia my home in March of 2009 after a campus visit over Spring Break. I was already accepted to five school including Temple, but for some reason, I was drawn to this highly underrated and often overlooked city in the east. Whether it was the superior academics at Temple, the rough charm of the people, or the trash-laden streets, we will never know for sure. What I do know is that I would defend this city to the death, for it has brought me some of my favorite memories and some of the best experiences of my life.

Thanks to my strange schedule, however, I have not until now spent a summer in this great city. Although it will only by part time thanks to my internship at J.P. Morgan in Newark, Delaware, I believe that this city deserves a spotlight in this travel blog. It is the first place I have learned to call home away from Colorado, it is where majority of my closest friends reside, and it has changed me into sassy, assertive, sometimes bitchy, east coaster…. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.

My Passion for Travel

Enjoy my stories?

Some call it destiny, others call it coincidence, I like to call it fate. My passion for travel has propelled me in directions I never would have known without it. It is the basis of many of my friendships, the inspiration for my career goals and it has completely altered my outlook on life. G.K. Chesterton once said, "The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land;  it is at last to set food on one's own country as a foreign land." Since 16, I made a promise: to not let the rest of the world, outside my own US borders, go unnoticed, and to become a true citizen of the world. Since then, I travel not to escape life, but to ensure that life will not escape me.
