Beliebste Stadtteile in Hamburg

Altstadt
The Altstadt, as well as the Neustadt, are definitely the most picturesque parts of the city, cute cobblestone streets, cafes, and allies to explore. This is also where all of the best shopping can be done. Mönkenburgstraße, one of the busiest streets in Hamburg, is the best for shopping, and leads straight from the main train station down to the new part of the city, Neustadt.
In this part of Hamburg-Mitte, you can see the Hamburg Rathaus (City Hall) which has a number of events in the city hall square like the Stuttgart Wein Villiage, and main buildings for well-known companies like die Zeit (newspaper), Deutsche Bank (Finance), and the Commerzbank (Finance). If you want shopping, the Europa Passage is great and has just about every store you can think of.

Want to bar hop, but not a crazy night like the Reeperbahn requires? The Schanze is the best place for that! Bounce from bar to bar and you’ll make friends at nearly every place you go thanks to bench seating when the weather gets nice. It’s also really nice during the day for shopping, hitting up consignment shops and used book stores, and enjoying a coffee in the sun. My favorite places? Bedford Café, O’Feuer, Glücklich (Store), Zoe 2&3.
Landungsbrücken
Home to the famous Sunday morning Fischmarkt and my favorite beach bar, Hamburg Del Mar, Landungsbrücke caters to both locals and tourists alike. It is within walking distance of the Reeperbahn, and there are a number of fun touristy boat trips and souvenirs that you can buy. It’s also where the ferry will pick you up to take you to other local beaches along the Elbe. And watching the cranes move the shipping containers is actually really cool; all while enjoying a cocktail, of course.

Neustadt
Hamburg Neustadt, which is located right across the bridge from the Hamburg-Altstadt, is where you can find most of the high end shopping, posh bars and lounges, and nice restaurants. Alex, my favorite restaurant located on the Alster, is one of the best places to eat, yet if you aren’t feeling like having a full meal, enjoying some Gelato on the Alster is a great idea as well.
This is a great part of town to get lost in, since you will always find some cute new places down allies and around corners. If you are looking for more reasonably priced meals, there are a ton of restaurants along Gänsemarktalle!
