Beliebste Bars und Restauranten in Hamburg

Alex Restaurant, Hamburg Altstadt

Alex is hands down my favorite restaurant in all of Hamburg. Located right on the Alsterpavillion, it is perfect for every occasion and every time of day. The prices are ideal and the quality of the food is great, not to mention the outdoor seating is great for people watching! If you find yourself in Hamburg, this place comes highly recommended for lunch and dinner, as well as cocktails or casual coffee.

Hamburg Del Mar, Landungsbrücken

Although Hamburg is not known for their weather, when it does turn around, my favorite place to go for afternoon drinks or on a warm night is Hamburg Del Mar located on the Landungsbruecken in St. Pauli. This Beach Bar is actually covered in sand, and you can get all of your favorite tropical cocktails. Overlooking the Harbor, you can watch the huge cranes moving the huge shipping containers, which is actually an impressive sight.

Zoe II, Zoe III Sofa Bar, Sternschanze

If you are looking for a chilled place with good drinks in the Schanze, Zoe II and Zoe III are my favorites. Located right next to each other, they are filled with comfortable sofas, cute interior decoration, and a very hip crowd. We found our way here pretty often while in Hamburg, and I will definitely come back.

Streits Filmtheater, Hamburg Neustadt

After trying desperately to find an English speaking movie theater to see the first Hunger Games when I came out while we were abroad, Shelby and I came across Streits, which is not only the only English movie theater in Hamburg city centre, but also has a great bar, and even better bar tenders, located right inside! Want to hit up a movie? Go a few hours early and try some of the signature cocktails. It's located right next to the Alsterpavillion. You can't have a better location than that!

O'Feuer, Sternschanze

Looking to watch a sports game? Or for one of the few bars left in Hamburg that allow smoking indoors? O’Feuer was one of our favorites! Thanks to studying abroad with an absolute chain smoker, Shelby seemed to always insist on getting to O’Feuer if we were in the Schanze, which indirectly made me love the place too! It is also a wonderful place to watch soccer matches, and they have pretty cheap drinks too!

Hamburger Berg: Lucky Star 1&3, Headcrash, Barabarabar

When I tried to choose one bar on the Reeperbahn, I discovered that it was impossible to choose just one, so instead, I chose my favorite section: Hamburger Berg. This is home to Lucky Star 1 and Lucky Star 3, where you can get 50 cent Mexicanas (Think Bloody Mary shots), but be careful, one of them is a trany bar, so as long as you aren’t weirder out by that, than you will LOVE both Lucky Stars. It is also home to Headcrash, which has more of a rock feel to it, and Barabarabar, which plays music from all time periods, including the 20’s, 30’s, and 50’s. If you want more traditional club music, you might be better off heading to either Grosse Freiheit, or to Horsaal on the main street.
