Franz Josef and Fox Glacier

On the 23rd of December, we hopped onto the Glacier Helicopter in Franz Josef and had the most incredible 45 minutes of my trip thus far. We took off and flew over Franz Josef Glacier, Fox Glacier, and we even flew around Mt. Cook, the tallest mountain in New Zealand. There is a reason that they call these mountains the Southern Alps. It was absolutely breathe taking! We even got to land on Fox Glacier, walk around, and take pictures. That was as Christmas-y as it got for us since the weather has been in the upper 70’s for the past few days. Katelyn and I even put some snow in our mouth and ate it—just to say that we had eaten a bit of Fox Glacier in New Zealand.

Growing up in Colorado, I believe that I am quite spoiled when it comes to scenery, especially when it comes to mountains, but I think that New Zealand might actually beat out Colorado on beauty. One of the coolest things that I have done while in New Zealand, and something that I would suggest for anyone and everyone to do if they come to New Zealand is a Helicopter tour!

One of the many incredible things about New Zealand is that at 11am, we were in the mountains on top of a glacier, and then that very same afternoon, we were on a beach near Haast in our shorts and t-shirts. I really like how you can do that here because you get the best of both worlds.

We spent the night in Haast since we are headed off to Queenstown for Christmas as well as New Years, more to come!
Cheers!

My Passion for Travel

Enjoy my stories?

Some call it destiny, others call it coincidence, I like to call it fate. My passion for travel has propelled me in directions I never would have known without it. It is the basis of many of my friendships, the inspiration for my career goals and it has completely altered my outlook on life. G.K. Chesterton once said, "The whole object of travel is not to set foot on foreign land;  it is at last to set food on one's own country as a foreign land." Since 16, I made a promise: to not let the rest of the world, outside my own US borders, go unnoticed, and to become a true citizen of the world. Since then, I travel not to escape life, but to ensure that life will not escape me.
